I have been wanting to create my own award for a while now and since tt’s Awards Season in the USA I thought this would be the perfect time for the inaugural of a new award into the blogging world.
I mean really all the awards that we see have to have started somewhere so I figure someone must have made up the awards. And creative person that I am I decided to do my own award.

Presenting
The Missy Award
The Missy Award is presented to those bloggers who support and advocate for animals either in the blog as a whole or a blog post. They can be animal lovers, vegetarian,vegan, rescue workers, doesn’t matter it’s all about the animals.
The Rules are:
1- You must post the Award Picture onto your blog–but who doesn’t love putting award pictures on their blog?!!!
2- Link back to http:ivonnemontijo.wordpress.com
3-And answer two questions.
A- What inspires or motivates you to write?
B- Why do you love animals?
4-Nominate other worthy bloggers or just simply accept the award and do #’s 1-3
5- Oh yes, please let your nominees know you nominated them

Hehe! Thank you!! I also have volunteered at our local animal shelter and recently shared a petition to help a fired shelter director get her job back. It seems the county thinks her no-kill efforts are too expensive!!! I don’t have any animals of my own but my son has a hermit crab named Hermie who has been a part of our family since August 2012. And once my son starts enjoying his vegetable more, we’re going to try going vegetarian again. We tried it last fall but only lasted 6 weeks as a family. We didn’t do the proper planning, it seems. Shoot!! Thank you!!

Paula, there are a lot of good meat substitutes out there. You may want to start with incorporaing veggie burgers, hotdogs and meatballs into the diet first. And try milk substitutes. I like the brand SoDelicious-coconut milk and their coconut milk coffee creamer. Boca Burgers are great and morning star has lots of products as well.

Awesome! I think the milk/dairy substitutes are a good start. It will be easier if I can get my son and husband on board, too. Maybe start making things and not telling them and seeing how they respond naturally.

Yes, I have made many recipes with fake meat and my meat eating friends could not tell the difference. It’s all about the flavors and textures.
