The Stepford Wives……….

Stepford Wives

One of the things that I have noticed many years ago when I first heard that the magician had gotten married was how much his first wife was a similar type to me.  We both came from an ethnic background.  I was Puerto Rican and she was Greek.  We both had long, wavy brown hair and big round eyes.  Her were blue mine were light brown.  What I didn’t know at the time was that another thing we had in common was a background in Theatre Arts. She with a B.F.A. in Theatre Production from the University of Arizona and I with a Minor in Theatre & Film from U.C.L.A.

Hmnnn…do you think we could pass for sisters?!!!!!

    • Sex, Spirit, Soul Mates and Chocolate....Ivonne's Journey Says:

Beautiful picture of Mayr, she does have a lot of soul in real life—those black and white headshots were the thing for actors back in the day–now we use color—–doesn’t hide the flaws as much as b&w….

  10. Gwyn Says:

Actually, Richard looks masculine and Jay looks like his sister. I saw earlier pictures of Jay on Mayr’s story and I was surprised he looked so, well, girly. I don’t get the attraction to this feminine guy at all. He looks so pale, peony, fragile and like a you are dating a girl. Sorry Ivonne, but the guy doesn’t have too much going for him in the looks department. Even back then when mullets were in, this guy is not attractive. Did he slip something in the drinks?????

    • Sex, Spirit, Soul Mates and Chocolate....Ivonne's Journey Says:

Gwyn, more than anything it is the charm of the narcissist. But back in those days girly guys were in, i.e. Leif Garret, Shaun Cassidy..etc…..Yes, my ex-husband is more masculine–too bad it did not work out between us but we are still friends to this day.

      • Gwyn Says:

That is very nice that you 2 are friends. That is the way it should be because I am sure you shared so many memories together. Well, I was never a Leif fan because I thought he looked like a drug addict (guess I was more in tune at that age than I realized) and I remember liking Erik Estrada, Michael Damian, John Schneider and I thought Jackie Jackson was soooo handsome. When I dated, I was always attracted to a man’s man type — a guy who you felt proud to be with, you know. Wimps weren’t for me. You do have to admit Jay looks wimpy in those photos. He must have been charming because not too much in the looks department. I also was told he didn’t finish high school… wow, an uneducated wimp. I am just trying to figure out his “magic” because he had no money, no education and no looks… what made you guys fall him? You are so pretty and so are the pictures of Mayr that I am just not getting it.

        • Sex, Spirit, Soul Mates and Chocolate....Ivonne's Journey Says:

Gwyn,I think a lot of it has to do with having come from an abusive background and thinking that it is normal. And maybe because of that his appearnce will not super masculine would not be threatning–boy were we wrong about that—lol

  14. Girl for Animal Liberation Says:

The woman my Ex left me for looks a lot like me. In fact, when my mother first saw her (from a distance) she thought it *was* me. The only difference is, she’s older than me by 2 years and has lots and lots of $$$. Something my Ex no doubt was allured by.

    • Sex, Spirit, Soul Mates and Chocolate....Ivonne's Journey Says:

Yes, in fact the girlfried that came after me actually looks like she could be my daughter. She really looks a lot like me at the age of 17. They bascially have one type that they keep replacing with the “newer and improved” model. LOL

      • Girl for Animal Liberation Says:

        Predictable, eh?
